Myth #6. The obesity epidemic is the result of eating low fat.

REBUTTAL: The American public is not following the recommendations of the USDA, the Ornish diet, the Mediterranean diet or the Paleo diet. Their obesity has nothing to do with these alternatives to low carb. While the public is eating less saturated fat they are mostly ignoring advice to eat more fruit, vegetables, beans and whole grains and they have increased consumption of sugar, white flour and potatoes. Futhermore, people are eating out more than ever (on average about one meal a day.) Although portion sizes don't have to be larger, they usually are much larger than they would be at home.
